Royal Palm Beach

Approximately 15 miles inland, the village of Royal Palm Beach was reportedly named for the dozens of royal palm trees planted along the boulevard that stretches through the village. The area The scenic protected lands—known for hundreds of parks, some 29 miles of waterways, and a general mission to safeguard green space—create a pleasing place to both call home and experience nature. The village offers a variety of activities for outdoor and sports enthusiasts, including soccer, basketball, tennis, youth football, cheerleading, senior activities, and year-round golfing. The city dedicated a sizeable piece of land to a central park and developed some 25 acres into a bird-watching and nature park. The village's 6,300-square-foot Cultural Center opened in the early 1990s.

The quiet residential neighborhoods here enjoy easy access to modern amenities and are often designed with homes surrounding a central lake or several smaller lakes, with palm trees and tropical landscaping creating a colorful backdrop. The warm weather, palm trees, and lush green environment are energizing and make an active lifestyle easy—biking, walking, and golfing are common, and the beach is only 30 minutes away. Since 1990 Royal Palm Beach has been named a Tree City USA—meeting stringent criteria set by the National Arbor Day Foundation—and its entire area is designated as a bird sanctuary.

Things to Do

Royal Palm Beach Commons includes an impressive 17,000-square-foot sporting center with large banquet and outdoor spaces for events, volleyball courts, and a golf training center with a driving range, three chipping greens, and an 18-hole tournament course. Water lovers enjoy the canoe and kayaking launch areas, where rentals are available. Miles of trails for biking, walking, or jogging wind around the 19-acre lake. Picnic pavilions with grills—and some with dedicated fishing docks—are also available to rent. This is a hub of activities—including a bike rodeo, film and concert series, and performances by local bands—and festivals, including the Royal Palm Beach Seafood Festival.

The Royal Palm Beach Cultural Center is a municipal facility operated by the village that offers meeting and banquet spaces, two kitchens, and a grand ballroom perfect for a larger event or wedding.

Village Golf holds a par-three tournament on the Fourth of July that features a barbecue lunch, drinks, and friendly competition. The Madison Green Country Club is home to a golf course that is considered one of the top 20 in Florida; the club also offers a pro shop, a ballroom, and a restaurant.

The Royal Palm Beach Pines preserve is 772 acres of native flora and fauna and other gorgeous scenery. Trails such as the Blue Heron or the Pine Lily allow visitors to spot bald eagles or eastern box turtles. Several trails are available for equestrians.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Al Pan Pan Bakery serves authentic Argentine and Uruguayan food and pastries. Koizi Endless Gourmet Grill & Sushi offers traditional Japanese hibachi dishes and sushi in both à la carte and all-you-can-eat formats. The unique experience of Asador Patagonia Argentinian steakhouse combines generous hospitality, an inviting atmosphere, fine meats, tiki and sports bars, and live entertainment on weekends. India Grill & Bar has a carefully crafted menu highlighting cumin, coriander, ginger, and other traditional Indian spices. Cocktails, spirits, liqueurs and wines, and signature cocktails can be enjoyed in the relaxing bar and lounge, while their private tasting room treats up to 20 guests to an elevated dining experience, and the inviting banquet hall accommodates larger groups. Other fine dining options, including the steak and seafood houses of the Okeechobee family of restaurants, are mere minutes away in the western reaches of West Palm Beach.

Several malls and shopping areas—the Coral Sky Plaza, Village Shoppes, the Commons at Royal Palm, and Crestwood Square—are located throughout the village. On Saturdays, the Royal Palm Beach Green Market brings local farmers and artisans together at the intersection of Okeechobee and Royal Palm Beach Boulevards. Connley Fishing offers everything necessary for taking boats out on the open waters for deep-sea fishing. The neighboring towns of Wellington and West Palm Beach—only a short drive away—have larger shopping plazas.
